Re: Get R now, wait, pass, or switch?

I must be one of the few people who does not have a burning desire for IBIS.

I shoot people pretty much exclusively and rarely get below 1/200 unless I purposefully want some motion blur. So anything under 70mm is covered easily with that sort of shutter speed. Anything over 70mm I use the 70-200 IS 95% of the time and the 85 the other 5% Even when people are standing still I feel you need a good shutter speed because of their small movements plus you can be ready to catch human reactions.

I have 5d4’s so getting the R does not make sense. It has the same sensor.

I reckon the more advanced version will be the 5Dv or whatever they will call it and I will change over then. The only reason would be to get the new lenses which look like a home run to me.

The main thing I want as a stills photographer is an EVF purely to see exposure more efficiently, silent shooting and a tilt screen on the 5DV ( if called that). I want the swivel screen high shots and low shots because I am sick of being covered in debris from lying on the floor/dirt/beach/street etc. The only thing that would be depressing is to lose that row of buttons where the flip screen needs to be. But you can’t have everything.

I think the new R looks like a really nice camera. Considering the access to the massive catalog of lenses, I think that trumps a few bells and whistles by a mile. The other thing is Tech is not going to help you take better photos. Skill, practice and education will. Tech will make it easier but it will not make you better.
