This is a tough one. I'll probably end up doing nothing for now and just using what I have.

I would have seriously considered getting it if it had IBIS and 10fps. It's also CDN $ 400 more expensive than the full spec A7iii. I really don't want to switch systems right now although I have an excellent Sony e-mount APS-C system aside from my Canon 5DS/5DMKII and lenses.

I thought about adding an A7iii but have a hard time picking the standard zoom lens. The Sony 24-70/2.8 is too expensive and huge. And the Zeiss 24-70/4 have mediocre reviews.

Have you considered the Tamron 28-75 f2.8? You'll have to give up the 24-28 FOV though. I'm going to wait for Sigma to release a true "native" FE lens in this focal range and then decide. I don't need F2.8 zoom at this range. I prefer primes between 24mm-55mm for anything faster.

Thanks I'm considering the new Tamron too but right now leaning on the Zeiss 24-70/4. I have already the Sonnar 55/1.8 full frame emount lens that I've been using with the A6000. Everything is still up in the air for me. Apparently there might be a Sony announcement on Sept. 18th. If there is an A6700 or A7000 I might consider that as well.

I have the FE 55 f1.8 as well.  Like you, I'm hoping that Sony will wow us with an up market APS-C body, more to compete with the Fuji XT3/Nikon D500.  I haven't been tempted by any Sony APS-c offerings since I got my A6000+ZA16-70 F4 and 70-200 f4.  Bought them all at the same time at the now defunct Sony Store and basically 'called it a day".  Actually, I bought all the Touit primes and Sigma pancake primes, and then called it a day.  That was years ago, and credit to the "little" Sony APS-c market that while not "fancy" it got the job done for most of what the "pro-sumer" users would likely need.
