The A7 III does have the same AF as the A9 and is therefore virtually as good if you do not need to shoot at more than 8 frames per second and with no blackout (something that Canon cannot do anyway).

It cannot brew coffee either but the blackout has not prevented Canon cameras from being used by at least half of the sports photographers.

Sport photographers used Canon and Nikon because they were the best sport cameras and the only one to have long lenses.

This is always the same argument: people are taking pictures since 200 years and they did not have all the current tech either.

Why is the no blackout (which is just an interpolation anyway) such a big deal? Are there reports of traumatic experience of Canon and Nikon shooters? On the other hand, EVF can give headaches.

No, there is no interpolation and if you read all reviews on Canon / Nikon top of the line cameras, the improvement on back out time is clearly something that all reviewers are valuing as it helps a lot for tracking to have as little blackout as possible.

Blackout does not effect your ability to track a subject it’s cool not to have it but one of those things that are really not that important.
