None of the above. Not worried too much about the competition, but I suspect there will be a higher end version coming.
Not enough here to change from 5d4
What do you hope or expect it to offer? What will it take to buy?
I ask because it seems to me the ‘pro’ features we all want/expect can be fount in Sony’s entry level a7III.
the AF is not pro level or on par with my 5DMKIV which is every bit as good as the 1DXMKII you need to go to the A9 to get pro AF.
No offense Don, but do you know this for sure? The a7iii uses the A9 af system and is pretty amazing at AF.
yes I have friends that use the Sony system as well as Canon the A9 is better then the A7 which has also been reported by DPR and others. The 5DMKIII AF was based off of the 1DX but in practice was not at the same level this was corrected with the 5DMKIV where the only limitation is in the speed it drive the faster lenses due to the battery amperage but it is every bit as accurate.
I have not personally compared the 5div and the a7iii, but I think often Canon users just assume theirs is better. (I don't personally assume that because I have a 6d and we all know that most cameras have better AF systems than the 6d...)
Basing my experience off of friends who have both and are talented enough to know. The A9 is really good close enough to 1DXMKII not to matter.
How much more will Canon charge for a 2nd card slot and pro video features? Will the pro model have ibis? What will the A74 have(that will be out by then)?
Canon has made it clear they feel IBIS is inferior to in lens stabilization so I doubt you will see it.
It's true they have. I wish they would still include it because you can always turn it off if you want, or in Sony's case the IBIS can work together with the in lens stabilization... but for a lens like the 28-70 or the 50mm that don't have IS it would be cool to have it added from the body.
I’m curious as to how Canon is going to charge more for features found in Sony’s $2k entry level camera with a straight face. And will people actually buy it?
Because they are better built cameras maybe that does not matter to you but I have had to chip ice off my 1D to use it how much is that quality worth.
Interesting times.
Yes interesting especially when Canon takes full advantage of the mount to design lenses that Sony can’t match due to the restrictions of their mount size.
Are we sure that's true? Which lens are you referring to, the f2 zoom? It could just be that Sony hasn't tried to make a lens like this since no one else has either. Just saying.
Look up the last interview with the head of Sigma who mentioned that the size of the Sony E mount makes it hard to designed lenses for compared to others.
I am not bashing Sony but only trying to point out that as good as they are they also have issues.
Yes, they have their issues for sure.
