I don't have a problem with M lenses not working on the R system any more than I did with my efs lenses not working on full frame. Apparently they will now work on R. R lenses not working on the M doesn't bother me either. Expensive, large lenses belong on the R. My mix of all the M lenses mostly purchased as refurbished on sale was approximately $1200, a bit more than 24-105. The non use on the R of my M lenses isn't upsetting nor am I likely to put a $1000 lens on my M5. However, I will rarely use an efs lens on my M. If Canon considers the M system as the replacement for the Rebels or D series, I am satisfied.

I totally agree! The new R to me is just another expensive new camera that I really don't need. I still plan on using my 7D II for sports, wildlife and some low light concert work but I'm sold on my M5. Took it on it's first trip about a week ago and it was like "freedom". I'll be getting the new M32 for sure.
