By the way, you asked about the (not included) lens hood in another thread, but I don't know if anyone answered. The Canon USA site is listing the new ES-60 hood for US $55.
The "Canon EW-60E" hood for the 11-22mm lens sold for just AUD $15 (US $10.75) here in Australia. Some sites here have it listed for up to AUD $25. EDIT: RRP in Australia is still AUD $15.
.
But US $55 is a shameless cash grab. It costs canon about $0.85c each to have these made... possibly less with newer production costs. I wonder if the hood is compatible between lenses? It's sad but I'll have to get the EW-60E hood for protection.
.
sort of related: Recently Canon Australia dropped the price of all their Canon lens caps to around $10 so I've been buying up everything from 82mm down to 58mm. Hopefully this new lens hood won't be so overpriced. US $55 is AUD $76.70 and THAT is WAY too much money for this accessory.
