EV -6 AF same as LV on 5D4?

The EOS R ability to AF down to EV -6 sounds almost impossibly impressive. However, if they are stating this metric for the new 50/1.2L perhaps it is actually just similar to the 5D4 in liveview. The current specs of the 5D4 (EV -4 in LV) are for lenses that are F2.8. This would theoretically be equivalent to EV -6 if the aperture could open to F1.4 during AF.

Now Canon DSLRs generally open the aperture all the way except that lenses faster than F2.8 generally only open to F2.8 (e.g. the 85/1.2LII doesn't open to F1.2 during AF). Since the mirrorless design is (of course) built to use the image sensor for AF, perhaps they can just open the aperture all the way during focus yielding EV -6 AF on lenses of F1.4 or faster with the exact same light requirements of LV AF at EV -4 at F2.8 on the 5D4. Makes it sound 1) very credible that they can hit EV -6 AF, 2) like the sensor is very similar to that of the 5D4 (this is actually positive news to me).
