It may not be apparent below, but the peak of the curve of the rear element is nearly at the same plane as the rear end of its enclosing tube.

The rear element is very exposed!

Imagine what could happen if the rear lens was on a tube sticking out 25-30 mm further. If the tube where 35mm in diameter that you insert in a 35mm wide hole.

You had to be extremly careful lining up the lens everytime you had to attach and remove it. You will not have any help of the mount in guiding the lens until the mount on lens and camera meet.

So if it should be easy to use there would have to be free space around the protruding part when you insert it into the camera. And the protruding part might have to be cone shaped to best guide in in place.
