Copying 35mm slides

I know this topic has been addressed in the past, but I cannot find any discussion that helps me with my questions.  I have inherited about a dozen large boxes of 35mm slides which I would like to convert to digital.  The pieces of kit which I have and which could prove useful include :

  • Canon EOS 70D
  • Canon 100mm macro EF lens (1:2.8, USM)
  • Other lenses, but not macro ones
  • Ohnar "Zoom reverser"
  • Kaiser 2125 lightbox (primarily intended for reviewing and sorting slides)

My feeling is that it will be quickest to digitise the slides one at a time, rather than loading two, four or more into some sort of frame, or laying up to 30 on the lightbox.

If I use the Ohnar, I need to get a T-mount to EF adaptor - will I also need one or more extension tubes to allow for the crop sensor ?

Would I be better off making up a frame to fit on the lightbox to accurately locate a single slide and mounting the 70D and macro lens on a tripod, possibly with some sort of hood to keep out extraneous light ?

Canon EOS 70D
