Canon 100D- power switch not working- stuck on video mode

Hello,

So far I've been extremely happy with my "travel kit" (Canon 100D + 24mm pancake lens). Carried it with me in almost every trip.

All that until last week, when I turned the power switch to "on" and it just went on video mode. Since then, no matter how the power switch is turned (even on "off") the camera is working only on video mode, and the only way to turn it off is to remove the battery.

I've tried to do a firmware upgrade, leave it with the battery off, change the battery, reset the settings, put a different lens and card- nothing.

I haven't dropped it or splashed it, but it has been enduring a bit of vibration and heat, as I've carried it (in a bubble wrap bag) inside my motorcycles tank bag, however I've never heard of any cameras getting damaged by simply transporting them on a motorcycle.

Could anyone help me with some repair tips?

1-How does the switch work? Is it varying resistance for each position? What exactly could get broken at this switch?

2- Did anyone else repair this? Was it the switch or the main board?

3-Could anyone point me to a parts diagram? Or at least a part code # for the switch?

I've searched a lot and there is very little repair info for this camera, and also very few spares available. So far I've only been able to find the complete top cover assy for about 100€ (which it's self is ridiculous considering the full camera package, incl kit lens cost about 400€)... Sending it to a repair shop is not an option either, as they'd charge more than the cameras market value (200€).

Of course, the warranty expired 4 months ago... Please help me repair this camera. It's not only about the money, buy I really hate this "throw it away after some 1$ bit brakes" consumeristic garbage
