I had bith the E-P5 and the E-M10 Mk II and they had really very loud IS systems. The Panasonic G81 (85) on the other hand had a barely audible IS system.

Makes me wonder if that changed on the E-M 10 Mk III or is it still as loud as ever on Olympus bodies?

It's just the same as on the other two Olys you mention when they are set to activate the IBIS fully on a half-press (so the sound cranks up at that point). Whilst those two can also be set to wait until the actual exposure to do this, the Mark III cannot.

OK, yet another untick mark against the Mk3. I didn't like the quiet but persistent noise at half press, so I disabled it on my E-P5 to only work during the exposure where it might be actually needed.

I am surprised by your statement about the G80/81/85, as mine sounds like these Olys on their louder note, even after the firmware update that quietened it somewhat. It doesn't have an alteration on half-press.

By the way, these are the IBIS systems we are talking about - OIS refers to in-lens stabilisation.

OIS is a lot quieter but in some isolated tomb room then it may disturb someone quite close, in fact, they would need to be very close.

The champion for noise is the old 2 axis IBIS of cameras up to and including E-PL6 age, take a 2 second shot and listen closely (or distantly) for the coffee grinder at work.
