As someone thinking about buying into the Fuji system, you have certainly made a compelling case to do so with your gorgeous photos. It sounds like you prefer the once-considered-optimal-APS-C size 16 mp sensor for noise control?

I don't know if 16 Mpx is optimal or not, but the only thing that I don't like from my X-T2 is noise in shadows, specially in poorly lit faces. I will probably start a new thread to discuss this issue.

I have seen that you shoot weddings profesionally. Are you using Fuji gear? Are you happy with skins textures and noise? I am not talking abaout portraits in good light conditions, but more in group shots or documentary style where it is quite probably to get some faces not properly lit.

Actually, I shoot with Pentax – K1 FF, and K5IIs 16mp APS-C. Both of these cameras have wonderful dynamic range and the files from them respond very well to post processing. In the Pentax forum, when the 24mp K3 came out, there was much debate over which camera had the best noise characteristics. I fell in with the 16mp group, and very loosely accepted the "16mp senor is the ultimate for resolution and low noise in APS-C cameras" mantra. But, that was five years ago, and it appears cameras can now support more pixels with less noise. That is why I was interested in the reason for your preference. I haven't heard that in a while.

Because I have cameras that have some of the best noise characteristics in their classes, I don't really think about noise much. I also have never been as sensitive to it as some photographers are. And finally, I'm not adverse to throwing some light in the room. But, you may really need a full frame camera to meet your needs.

Speaking of not having light on faces in group or documentary situations, take a look a Kevin Mullins work with Fuji cameras. Hah. I would say he has a "If you can't beat them, join them" philosophy.
