How 'really' noticeable is IQ

I confess: yes, I pixel peep and at 100%, but I don't think I"m as compulsive as some

I'm told that people who look at photos don't zoom in to 100% and analyze. Likewise, when printing the picture, one isn't going to hold a magnifying loupe to look at edges and scrutinize that the corners are soft and whatever else might be.

I guess, I can argue that if the print is being enlarged, yes, it's important to have the greatest capture possible....no softness, stellar details, etc.

To an untrained or trained eye, and with post processing techniques, I wonder how significant of noticeable differences in photos are if taken with 200mm prime vs one that was say taken with an 18-200mm - assuming same camera/settings, subject, etc.

I admit, I don't have the many years of photographing experience like some I know, so yes perhaps it's easier for them to spot IQ differences between lenses.
