D750 speed won't go past 8 sec. What do I fix?

I've got a recently-back-from-NikonUSA D750. Some while back (can't remember if it was before or after I sent it in on recall) I could set it as slow as 30 seconds before it went to 'bulb'.

I am (finally!) in a dark sky area with no clouds and I tried to set f/2, 10 seconds, and discovered that T couldn't set it past 8.

I am guessing that this is something that I've set wrong, but I'm not sure what that might be. I've dug through Thom Hogan's d750 e-manual (more complete than the Nikon manual) and don't see a mention of this.

It could also be a firmware change from the recall/repair, so I dunno. Any ideas?

The 2 seconds between 8 and 10 is no big deal. In fact, I may end up preferring 8 to reduce star trails as I'm stacking shots.

Also I may  not respond to answers immediately. I have very spotty Internet access. Drove half an hour to get to the local library, so I could ask this. I guess not having communiucations goes along with little light pollution.

Thanks!
