"Sony now has a 13.3% market share compared to Canon’s 49.1% and Nikon’s 24.9%."

"Between 2006 and 2008 Sony was the fastest growing company on the DSLR market, reaching 13% market share in 2008"

Between 2008 and 2018, Sony added SLTs, APSC mirrorless and FF mirrorless.   At the moment the have no competition in the FF mirrorless ILC market (Leica make a fixed lens camera iirc).

Despite this they've gone from a 13% market share to a 13% market share.  Nikon still sells over 2 times as many ILCs.  And Canon is Soundly beating them in mirrorless sales with just a couple models in their home country.

I used to believe Sony was dominating nikon and Canon.  I still believe they are profitable.   But with Canon and Nikon just now finally getting serious about mirrorless and Sony unwilling to reenter DSLRS and SLTs near death, I don't see a bright future for Sony.  It was shocking to see Canon is #1 in mirrorless in Japan already, and I see no way Sony can do anything but lose market share with Nikon and Canon releasing FF models.  I hope Sony stays profitable.   Who knows.  But after 10 years they are still at 13%.
