Funny little Video making fun of Macs. A few swear words though.

The whole mac is better than pc and pc is better than mac is getting old and is childish, if you want to play those games, go somewhere else, this websight is used to help others, not to say ha ha, mines is better.

Who feels the need to "bash" the Mac. I guess they preferred the command-line prompts that were standard until the Mac advanced the state of UI.

And, please, don't bring up the tired old tales about how some research computer in PARC had a windowing system first. Yes, it had a VERY DIFFERENT windowing system, but it is indisputable that the Mac made Windows come about.

...and, don't you find it interesting that after OS X, every major operating system currently in use has a command line?

Personally, I don't think it's just humor. The guy described very accurately some of the most annoying Mac characteristics.

Problem is that the Mac UI is showing its age, and from a UI standpoint, OS X was a pretty dismal failure -- leaps and strides backwards, in many ways. While Microsoft's done a pretty good job of copying the good ideas in the Mac UI, Apple's too proud (or too scared of lawsuits) to do the same: as a result, IMO Windows XP is currently at least on par with MacOS in day to day usability.

I do get these "damn, I miss the Mac" moments every so often, when I run across some particular idiocy in Windows (e.g., the stupid way it handles file and directory-level locks, or if something goes wrong with the idiotic way it handles applications and shared resources). On the whole, though, WinXP scores some major usability points against MacOS: the file explorer is much more powerful, the separate desktops work much better for some applications (I like to do stuff in parallel, and I hate the way the windows pile up over each other on the Mac), and similar.

But the guy made some very valid points.

Disclaimer: I'm only familiar with MacOS up to OS X.1 -- I've been Wintel/Linux since then, so for all I know many of the annoyances have been fixed in the latest releases of OS X.

No, not particularly.

I'm a programmer and I almost never use the command line. I suspect for non-computer folks the command line is used even less.

It's great to have a command line, but not as the only interface.

To me, the latest version of Mac OS looks eerily similar to Win XP. ;-P

LOL.... I LOVE that video.

I've always used PCs, and admit to their shortcomings. I went out a year ago and bought a flat panel iMac "just to see". Worst experience of my life. No manual... bought 2 on my own and even they didn't answer some basic questions on "how to do this on a Mac" stuff. It was slow, crashed and those damned key combinations to do simple tasks.. YIKES!.

I sold it. Took the money and bought a 19" flat panel monitor for my PC. LOL.

...if you're referring to the blobby, organic look, Apple actually got there first -- OS X came out before WinXP. Whether MS just copied it or both are simply reflections of current design trends is an open question.

Quite frankly, I hate Macs.

Half of the basic things you try and do with them you are forced to adhere to some arcane and non-sensical routine.

Case in point. I posted several Photoshop actions on a site for free download. I did this in order to relieve myself of the burden of havinbg to e-mail dozens of .ATN's every day. Instead, what I got was dozens of e-mails asking me why it is that when they click on the link for download, they get a screen full of garbage instead.

Now, of course you can choose to right click the link and choose "Download to Disk", and that's if you joined Mac in the 20th century by having a multi-button mouse. OR, you can choose to Control/click the link.

By the way, the latter part STILL does'nt work for some bizarre reason for those with older Mac laptops.

I know the reasons for this happening, but all the same, with a PC it's a click and done deal. I have never recieved a single complaint about ability to download from a PC user.

I could go on, but that was just one personal reason I choose to shy away from Macs.
