The choice of aperture was tricky that you have noticed. There were other factors - the lens was close to the subject and the increase of aperture only brought limited DOF gains and it was breezing, A small movement of the subject led to huge impact on sharpness. I had to keep the DOF and the speed.

I find lilies to be a very challenging flower to shoot. They're so big! And need so much depth of field.

I think I'd be tempted to close the aperture down to f/8 or even f/11 to get all the anthers and stigmas in focus. There was plenty of light there to do that.

But (and it's a BIG but), you'd have to find a way to keep the background uncluttered (it's pretty busy).

I do like the light on the white lily. It's not as flat as on the second. The colors are beautiful though!
