M50 & Settings Between Modes Not All Saved
1

I've been using a M50 for video, but it's a solid still photo camera as well and have been getting into that side of the camera (I make Youtube videos). The frustrating thing is that when I'm trying to switch between photo and video work I often want different settings that are not saved between modes. The camera appears to save some settings between modes, but not all settings. I haven't looked into what exactly it saves and doesn't save between say Av and Movie mode, but I do know that AF-type is global and not specific to the given mode and that's one I want different between photo and video work 90% of the time. It's pretty frustrating.

Has Canon ever added features to their cameras in firmware? I feel like this camera would benefit greatly from having firmware based C1/C2 or at least have a check-box option to save *all* settings between M, Av, Tv, P, and movie mode. Maybe an online petition is in order.

I never noticed the issue with the Canon Rebel SL2 (200D), but I had pretty much used that exclusively for video as my main photo camera is a Nikon full-frame DSLR. I guess the M50 is kinda sorta entry level (not that cheap...), but this seems like an odd omission. I've fine with it not having dedicated C1/C2, but I could see it having a soft feature that links to the M-Fn button.

I know there is the "* My Menu" thing and I've been messing around with it. That might help a bit, but it's all manual adjustments when I want to quickly take some video while shooting photos or the reverse.
