I'm experimenting with an old Olympus FL-36 which works rather well in manual mode on the hotshot of my SD1M. Were I to use it off-camera, can anyone tell me what cable would I need to connect from the SD1M hotshot to the flash?
I get all my off-camera sync chords from Flash Zebra. Great guy, great service. I used to really beat mine up - take them to the beach etc. They'd eventually come a little unglued, but were easy enough to repair.

Or I would get a wireless system a-la Pocket Wizard, which is what I use now, but if you're just experimenting - just find an inexpensive hotshoe to hotshoe cable.
Thanks. Looking at the link I think I am clear enough now what I need to buy. As I am using the flash in manual, It seems that I can buy pretty much any brand as it is only the centre pin that transmits information.
Correct. It's basically an on/off switch. The center pin merely closes the circuit with the side pins (pins? rails?), which is what triggers the flash.
