I can't believe you took that thing kayaking! How was your experience and hit rate with the jousting? That is most definitely what I would call action shooting. Did you use AF-C or age old techniques with AF-S?

Hi Gavin, for all action stuff I am using af-c and zone! Something everyone should be aware of is the camera will lock focus in es+ms or es shutter, only ms (mech shutter) will provide true af-c at 6fps, there is a little pop up that comes up that I have only just noticed and totally ignored. As I was moving around settings I don't know what I was in half the time

In terms of hit rate, for af-c, I would recommend the zone setting, usually the smaller box, and just burst away in 5-10 shots, wait 5 to 10 secs in your head and go again. In the jousting there were heads and people everywhere so getting a proper pan on horses and people was tricky in itself. I will try some more at other stuff, seagulls and things and also do cyclists and things to see proper hit rate. Most definitely it will be in the 60%+ region I think. I don't quite get dpr's c-af test, you need to get the box on the subject and pan/move with the camera over the subject. The x-t100 can focus well and more importantly focus quickly when asked to do so. Not sure what people are doing differently to me!
