Why do I need a G9

Buying one would settle the matter

I think there is no question that:

1. The G9 is a better camera than the G85; and

2. The G85 is a better value than the G9.

Therein lies the dilemma. Do you spend the considerable extra money for the diminishing returns? Would the improvements in handling, performance, or IQ make enough of a difference in your images to justify the increased cost?

I certainly can't answer that. You obviously do very well with your G85s. But, hey, you're dedicated to this hobby, and if you can afford it and the ergonomics work for you, I'm sure you would like the G9. Buying one would at least end the mental wrestling match of trying to decide whether to buy one, and that's worth something, right?

Actually, I recall you going through this debate not long after the G9 was announced or released, and deciding fairly conclusively that it wasn't worth the premium price, for your purposes. But apparently not so conclusively . . . .

Maybe it's not a matter of IF you should buy one, but WHEN or at what price point?

£973 = $1,278 USD, a pretty attractive price for a G9 IMO.
