Revisiting SQUARE crop on K-1-series

There have been many threads on this topic. I've listed some of them near the bottom of this post.

My reasons for revisiting this topic are mainly:

First: I didn't spot a description of how to use Lightroom to make a SQUARE DNG into an FF DNG. So I'll included a description in this thread. I accept that I may be duplicating what someone has already posted. The description will be a response here with the subject:
"Using Lightroom to reverse SQUARE crop"

I'll supplement this with extracts of the DNG metadata to show what is happening, as another response here:
"DNG Metadata for K-1-series Crop Modes and Recover Edges"

Second: I'm experimenting with using the (latest) Pentax 1.4x Rear Converter on all my lenses on my K-1ii, and SQUARE may have a role in avoiding poor image quality at the extremes of FF.

I've been experimenting using my lenses on FF, with and without a 1.4x converter, from 2013 up to now, and posting results here:

2013: Test images using my DA(*) lenses on a 35mm camera

2013: Pentax Full Frame tests

2016: Tests of de-baffled 60-250mm on K-1 at FF

2018: Using the Pentax 1.4 Rear Converter on fisheye lenses

This topic is still "work in progress". When I have anything worth saying, I'll post it in this forum.

A subset of other threads about SQUARE:

K1 equilateral rectangle format

Affordable K1 Lens Options

K1 1:1 Aspect Ratio

The Square Format

Another benefit of the 1:1 crop option-

1:1 crop implementation is pathetic
