Correct, but in 20 years of owning digital cameras I have never used one powered by a (corded traditional) power supply - a battery yes, but not a power supply (yes you could argue that a battery is a power supply, just not a corded one, but the OP indicated earlier that it wasn't the battery).

So, I too am unclear as to what the problem and solution is.

Actually I didn't mean that the battery was a power supply. I meant that there would be a circuit board in the camera that functions as a power supply.
