Hello, Canon shooters! I’m seeking backup camera recs for the purpose of having a wide-angle option on safari without changing lenses. My main body is an 80D. So: SL1? T6i? Rent a T6i, SL1 or 80D? Or not needed? Specifically interested in the opinions of 1) those who have used the SL1 and Rebels and/or 2) those who have been on safari or other wildlife expeditions and have thoughts on the utility or not of backup cameras

I would think that the SL2 would be a good choice. I just got one for travel and it's really nice to have the small size. The sensor is the same as the 80D. Having said that if wide angle is what you are after a 6D might be worth looking at. Similar controls to the 80D as well, but then you might need a FF lens.

As to whether or not a second camera is a good idea, I would say yes on a once in a lifetime trip.
