Hornet eating honeybee
10

Dear all,

this afternoon my bee-watching was less peaceful than on other days: Suddenly there was a hornet searching for her meal. She was inspecting a few flowers - much to fast for me to get a photo. Then she disappeared under the "umbrella" of a Daucus carota. I looked under this umbrella and found her at dinner. I had my flash with a large reflector on the camera and thus I was not able to come close to her. I just could fire the flash top of the "umbrella" (I will start another thread with a few photos of this plant a little later) and hope for enough light passing through to get photos of this massacre.

This is what I got:

I used my Sigma 105 mm macro lens. Post-processing with ON1.

Like always: Comments and critics are welcome!

Best regards

Holger
