I've been using Adobe Bridge for more than a decade. It does only one thing, being a DAM, i.e. an organizer, viewer, etc., but it does it very well, it has many features and it's free. It has no modifying tools besides orientation.

Unlike many other DAMs it doesn't use a catalog, therefore you can manage files and folders within Bridge (move, create, delete, rename, etc.) as well as within Windows Explorer (or the Finder on a Mac).

And it integrates very well among Adobe's Suite.
