I used the word "essentially" and I added the caveat below. Got a comment anyhow. Can't go to bed yet, there is someone on the Internet that is wrong!

Maybe I should have written more caveats, like the A/D converter having limited DR and adding read noise and I do not know what.

But, essentially, you get more DR if you either decrease noise or increase the clipping level. And, of course, have enough bits in your A/D. etc

If you do not plan to increase the over exposure latitude, in practice lowering the available ISO.
