Basic question on manipulating yellow content in D810
1

Hello all. I understand this is a basic question but I've done a significant amount of reading online and I'm not 100% sure I'm behind the conclusions... hopefully you can guide me to concluding what is the best approach. I'll try to describe my situation as best as possible given my limited experience.

In many of the landscape images from my D810 I see what appears to be too much yellow in the greenery within the image. Based on where I want to take the images, I've concluded I need to somehow "remove" yellow. Had yellow been a "channel" I'd have applied a reduction curve of some sort, but it isn't. In Lightroom I can try desaturation on yellows and colours around it but then the yellow turns greyish. I can also try luminance changes, but then I just end up with darker yellow. Any sort of notable change will result in "splotchy" edges in the transitions around the yellow areas needing treatment.

That's in Lightroom... in Capture NX-D, I'm lost. No idea how I can achieve this toning down of yellow (no pun intended). Sure there are suggestions of playing with the white balance but it seems to affect the overall image colour-balance-wise... in my case it's really just a pulling back on yellow that I need (perhaps a hue shift but only on yellow? No idea how to accomplish this).

Thanks in advance, any suggestion would be greatly helpful! It's my #1 hurdle on the D810 right now.
