Hi,

Do these cameras use the same 23mm lens design that started with the X100?

If so, how does it fare?

Thank You,

Mike P

I've got an X100 (the original).  The lens is good, plenty sharp, but as has been noted ad nauseum, if you are very close to something you'll want to be sure it's stopped down a little, otherwise the photos have a glow to them, sort of like the "Soft focus" effects you might see in 80's portraiture.  I've heard this is due to the pancake nature of the lens, a compromise in design that allows it to be so compact.  It's not something that one has to worry about a lot of the time, and once you're aware of it, it just becomes second nature to set the camera to a larger aperture if needed.  Aside from that, no complaints on the lens, it performs very well.
