Lens hoods
1

Hi folks. I have a Canon EOS-M50 which I bought with the 15-45mm kit lens. This didn't come complete with a hood (why not?) and the hoods are expensive for what they are.

I'm about to pull the trigger on the 22mm f2 prime and I've read that it has a hood available too. Am I going to need it? I don't notice the lack of a hood being a problem with the kit lens so is it likely to be a problem with the 22mm? I know, more or less, how to avoid lens flare and I also know how to use it to my advantage so is there any point in buying the hood other than the - in the case of the 22mm, limited - exra protection it can provide for the front element?

Is anyone using the 22lens sans hood and if so how is it affecting your photography?

Thanks,

Gordon.
