New EOS M6

I recently purchased an EOS M6.  I have several Canon DSLRs and Powershots  an M and an M3 with the EVF-DC1 viewfinder. All work perfectly well.

The new M6 when used with the EVF-DC1 cannot be made to show (in the viewfinder) the top horizontal line of shooting information or the Histogram.  Instead there is just an odd symbol displayed at the start of the top line in the finder and the rest of the line is blank and no Histogram.  The camera LCD displays correctly.  In my M3 the viewfinder and DC1 displays match each other.

M6 LCD screen follows:

Image from M6 (lens cap on)  The symbol under the battery indicator is the odd symbol that shows up in the viewfinder on the top line and the rest of the line and the histogram are missing. The symbol doesn't show anywhere on the M3 and I can't find any reference to the symbol.  It can't be a finder problem as the two screens match exactly on the M3.  Do I have a bad camera?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Julian
