Re: Olympus TG5 vs Sony RX100

I started off with an underwater film camera for snorkeling years ago, and recently took up diving with an RX100iv in a Fantasea case.  From what I've heard, the Meikon case is also very good.

I use a second RX100iv on land because it has great portability, excellent image quality, and provides several additional modes I use, including timelapse, panorama, low light imaging, and slow motion.  Both cameras serve as backup for each other, insurance for otherwise expensive trips to dive sites worldwide.

My setup fits easily into a small carry-on pack, so size for purposes of travel isn't a problem.   Once underwater, it's even less of an issue for me.

Unfortunately, I chase image quality; and for that reason I got a Meikon case for my a7Rii.  My goal is to make very large prints for which 42 megapixels would be good.  I usually post process images in Lightroom and have found noise reduction to be useful, so also expect IQ improvement in that respect .

In addition to supporting the snorkel application, I think the RX with Meikon case would be a growth path.  Are you sure you would never want to dive?  Are you sure you would be satisfied with inferior IQ?  Are you sure you would not want to deal with (what I deem) the minor problem of increased size for the (in my view) much improved functionality?

I have bought every version of the RX series up to IV and can say that they hold their price very well, so resale shouldn't be a problem.
