do you think that 16mm & 56mm can be a better combo than 16 & 35/1.4 ?

I'm user a Fuji x-t20 user, and now I have only 16mm f1.4.

I usually photograph my 17-month-old little daughter and my wife.

I sold 23/1.4 a couple of days ago, thinking that 35/1.4 would be paired better with 16/1.4, and I initially thought of buying 35/1.4 and a UWA lens for an occasional use.

But I've recently seen some arguing that 56/1.2 is a better partner for 16/1.4; their logic is that 16/1.4 may partially cover what 35/1.4 does.

I'm not fully convinced, but I think that makes sense considering how I have used Canon EF 24/1.4 with 5Dmk3 and XF 16/1.4 with x-t20. Sometimes (depending on composition or background) they produced results just like 35mm or 50mm would do. To a degree, 16/1.4 may be able to play a role as a standard lens.

But I still prefer the weight & size and an affordable price of 35/1.4.

If I buy 35mm, I almost afford to buy 10-24mm (But I still like the idea of having Laowa 9mm due to its size and almost-distortion-free design; I know that 10-24 is far more versatile, though).

But if I buy 56/1.2, because of budget limitation, I may buy Samyang 12/2 or Laowa 9mm (if it will ever be on sale, hopefully) or I need to wait a little more to be able to buy a decent UWA lens.

But forget about UWA because I don't think I would use it a lot anyway.

Do you have any idea or comment on using a 16 & 56 combo instead of using a 16 & 35 combo?
