18-55 AF-P and Tamron 17-50 F/2.8 Which to use/sell?!

Hi folks,

So I recently got back into the DSLR world. I previously shot a D70s and D5000. I now have a D3400 with 18-55 AF-P VR, Tamron 17-50 F/2.8 (with motor but no VC) and a AF-P 70-300 (no VR).

My dilemma arises from the first two lenses. They cover the same focal lengths. The main difference is that one has VR and one is faster.

Which scenarious would you use each?

1) Indoor baby (eventually toddler) photos? The Tamron due to it being faster?

2) Landscapes – A fast lens doesn’t really have an advantage here. Does the Nikon 18-55 lens have one I’m missing?

3) Outdoor baby shots in good light–the Tamron to raise shutter speed? If I shoot wide open though I’ll lose DoF and may miss focus on moving child. Maybe the Nikon would be better then with it’s quick focus?

Anyway those are just a few scenarios. I had toyed with just selling the AF-P lens, but thought that perhaps it would shine in certain situations that the Tamron wouldn’t.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance!
