Not to bad, for general, non-pro usage

Its a small lens, its a kit-lens. The aperture is slow, the AF its not fast. IQ needs help from software correction. Still, for the money and the size, this is a great kit-lens. If you don't need more, don't want to carry more, or you are afraid sand or other bad things might damages your valuable L zooms, grab this one instead. The zoom-range is in the "normal" / "boring" rage, so if your photo are no good, there is just you to blame for it. The macro capability is ok, but the are no other special skills. For general photography, for kid, beginners, and casual shooters, this lens is a good option.
