Agreed.  Maybe I should have said that the intent is different.  Shooting something for Facebook or social media is important for some.  But, I seriously doubt that National Geographic or most notable magazines would hire a photographer with a smart phone of any calibre.  True, a poor quality photo is better than none.  And phones are improving every year.  But, I think the purpose of a smartphone photo is different from a serious camera.  True, you can get amazing pictures from a phone, but without control and much creative control.  But, to each their own.
