(Nope, it's still not D500-level )
Alex
Yes, after many years of just tweaking an algorithm here and poking one in there, Pentax has finally restarted from scratch and put in a genuine upgrade.........
...screw-drive lenses were considered poorly adapted for good AF/AF-C, with theories varying from, antiquated system, play in the mechanical couplings, gearing and general tolerances.......... to inertia from the mass of glass etc.
I saws nothing in the construction of Nikkor screw-drive lenses that would point to faster AF, quite the contrary, the Pentax body has the better AF motor, with more torque and is faster/noisier......the Nikon's has low torque and has moderate speed/quieter......so how come Nikon get's there slightly quicker? Nikon's algorithms waste no time hesitating/hunting.......Nikon had the better grey matter!
Yes, Dave, your Nikon is better than our Pentax. Happy now? <rolling eyes>
Wait. You can't be happy, if you keep harping on how bad Pentax is. But why? You switched to the perfect brand!?!
Oh I'm happy Alex....happy as a Lamborghini in springtime......
How are you doing?........ You know, sometimes you don't sound altogether the happiest bunny on the planet.......still with all those pesky posts coming in thick and fast..........very understandable.
I don't know about the perfect brand Alex, I don't believe in marriages..... what with the divorce rate, splitting up can be so painful...... non-compatibility issues etc.
...So my Nikons and I....... (D500/D750)..... are now officially a threesome btw..........and . just "co-habit"........fashionably of course and in the most open minded modern way threesomes do these days.....we share everything together......no secrets between us and of course the weather-sealing enables us to bathe ensemble!
Wry humor & great writing! If I were arguing with you I'd give up right after the above lines.
Humor can indeed be used to hide prejudice.
You may be right, but as I recall, history was not kind to those who argued with Mark Twain. It is unlikely that any of the lines written in these forums will have much longevity -- unless some one-day-to-be-famous writer were to write them down in his journal -- and then some professor in the 22nd century teaching "Forum correspondence of the early 21st century" uses David's lines as an example of the best writing found here.

Above $2500 cameras tend to become increasingly specialized, making it difficult to select a 'best' option. We case our eye over the options costing more than $2500 but less than $4000, to find the best all-rounder.
