Sigma 120-300 f2.8 vs. Canon 400 f5.6

Dear All,

My main wildlife lens, a Tamron 150-600 G1 is now sold and I can't decide between the Sigma 120-300 f2.8 EX DG APO HSM lens or the Canon 400 f5.6 L lens.

Both of these lenses are used and they are the same price. I am shooting mainly birds and I would use the lens on a 1D IV body. Because I shoot ice hockey and other sports occasionally I am tending to favor the Sigma (even though I mainly use my 70-200 f2.8 for that), but I've read so many great things about the AF speed and sharpness of the Canon that I can't decide.

I tried to read all the reviews and forum threads but I still can't decide.

Please do give me your 2 cents about this.
