Nikon 60mm 2.8G or 105mm 2.8D for macro

So I'm looking to get a Macro lens, but have put my budget at around $600 for this purchase, so that means I'm looking at the 60mm or the 105 2.8D used.

Is the 60mm optically better because of its lens coatings and that's it's newer or will I not see much of a difference (other than the working distance)?

(NOTE: I am not photographing moving objects--so no bugs or insects--mainly plants and flowers and other non-moving subjects where keeping a distance is important to avoid scaring off wildlife...)
