[550D + EFS 24mm] ISO 800 vs. ISO 3200 in low light

I was curious and made a not-very-scientific test on the ISO performance when I started to use this old camera which has a 18Mp last generation sensor.

My conclusion is:

1. For ISO no more than 400, use it at will

2. ISO 800 starts to see noise, but the quality is still very good. As seen in Sample 1 below, the fine wrinkles on the target cardboard are still very clear.

3. ISO 1600 is acceptable but be constrained.

4. ISO 3200 is not good, try to avoid it. As seen in Sample 2 below, the fine wrinkles on the target cardboard are not clear

In general, it works fine for street in evening, but struggles in museums.

Sample 1: ISO 800

Sample 2: ISO 3200
