I got the Dawn Tech for my D850. Yes the jam nut does come loose, sometimes so before I do a shoot I check it. Also I keep the string loop on the camera so if it did fall out, it would be still on the string.

This new unit is my number 3 from Dawn Tech going back maybe 8 + years, they work and work well. The data is in the file as stated. The newer units use much less power and are much faster to get the fix.

So I can say so far "no problems" with the top of the line unit on a new D-850.

Than you Mike. You have answered my fundamental question ... it does work properly with the D850, my experience with LR at the time of the D850 raw converters initial release notwithstanding.

I have placed my order for the PF-2DC. They seem to be saying it will be here in the US in just 3 days, all the way from Hong Kong! I hope it isn't suffering from jet lag. ;=)
