I don't see how it could have IQ in the ballpark of the 100-400 4.5-5.6L ii without UD and fluorite elements. It would be nice if it did but i don't see how. The zoom range however is very enticing, especially combined with the IS.

The Sigma and Tamron 150-600 offerings range in price from about $1k to $1800.

If Canon made a 200-600 or 150-600 that had better optics, AF, build, and IS than Sigma and Tamron, I would be willing to pay between $3k to $3500.

I wonder how others feel.

BTW, I'm not knocking Sigma or Tamron. These are good lenses. I own the Sigma C.

I think this is an accurate floor for the price range. Among Canon's Telephotos, aperture size predicts price pretty accurately. 600 f/5.6 means a ~107mm aperture. At present, Canon doesn't sell any lenses above a 100mm aperture for less than $6000. The only lens with a >=100mm aperture that does sell for less than that is Sigma's ~$3000 120-300mm f/2.8. Assume a discount for non-L and I think your floor is in the $3000 range. The next step down in aperture sizes is into the ~70mm range (200 f/2.8, 400 f/5.6, 300 f/4), where lenses fall in the $1-2k range at the moment.
