P800 Roll Adapter: paper curl, head strike risk?

I've done some cutting of roll material in order to get custom sheet lengths, and then fed them into the sheet feeder port. One paper was a real bear for curl: Breathing Color Metallic. I had to work the heck out of it with a home made decurler before I could feed it in. That made me think that maybe it could be difficult if loading it the intended way too.

Now I'm considering getting the roll adapter. But every paper roll contains curled paper. Does the P800 deal well with that? Joe's videos make it look perfectly simple. Will I need to take any action such as increasing the platen gap, or has Epson thought of everything?

Any pizza wheel marks? Thanks in advance for any insights or advice.
