I prefer the freedom of shooting handheld for dragonflies, I find it quicker to move into a position with a good background. Even with my shaky hands the IS of the Olympus E-M1ii + 300mm f4 Pro is up to the job.

For large DOF I use in camera focus stacking. I have it saved to a preset and if there is no subject movement I get a good keeper rate, even handheld.
