Any reason to upgrade from this old 105mm macro?

Hi Everyone:

I used to shoot macros several years ago and have attached a sample of my work. I am going to go back to shooting macros with my SD15. I just started my own garden and planted numerous pollinating plants to attract insects. These images print well at 11X17, which is my default print size, so for now I don't plan to upgrade from my SD15, although I shall leave that question open as well.

My question is whether it makes any sense to switch to a newer version of the 105mm? The version I have is the 105mm DG EX f2.8 macro.

In terms of the newer version, will the image stabilization insure that I get sharper images more consistently, or does it work less well in macro mode? Are the new lenses necessarily sharper? Is the AF necessarily more reliable? I am not interested in the new 70mm art macro, preferring the 105mm as a focal length I am used to. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-Charles
