Is my lens back-focusing, or is this normal? Nikon 14-24

Just got my new Nikon 14-24 (thanks, all, for your help making that decision!). It is definitely the widest lens I've ever owned and even on DX my widest 11mm was equiv FoV 16.5mm. I've been playing with the lens a little bit and I am not sure how I feel, yet. I've noticed some soft and OOF photos that I would've expected to be better. Here are a couple examples, and I'd appreciate it if you all would chime in and let me know if I should focus calibrate, change my technique, or consider sending it back.

Both of these were taken with group AF.

OOF image. D850; 14mm; f/4.5; 1/80s; ISO 800 -- screenshot from ViewNX showing focus point

In-focus image. D850; 14mm; f/4.0; 1/80s; ISO 800 -- screenshot from ViewNX showing focus point

It's possible this is user error, but I'm surprised the first image was OOF. There are some others, as well. For example, this one:

OOF. D850; 19mm; f/5.6; 1/30s; ISO64

Same image as above

I don't really understand how camera shake at 1/30s at 19mm could be responsible for being OOF like that, but at such a wide FoV and at 5.6 how is it OOF?

Is this caused by group focus? Or is the lens potentially FUBAR?

Appreciate your thoughts (especially if it's that I'm an idiot! Let me know!)
