Focus peeking or just the magnifier?

Hello guys,

Currently testing (read:learning how to use) my Samyang 135mm. What a lens, so incredibly sharp even at F2. Manual focus is a challenge but I was surprised that the magnifier alone gives me better results than focus peeking (or peeking + magnifier). The red color dominates so much that you pay too much attention to the amount of color instead of the details in the viewfinder/LCD. Anyone else out there with the same experience? I guess focus peeking is more useful when zone focusing, for example in a football/soccer game?

I set two bottles on a table where one was placed slightly behind the other.  The bottle that had a sticker with high glossy contrast had red focus peeking color all over it, but when looking at the actual details (text/label) the focus was still on the other bottle as the text was clearer on that sticker.

Kind regards
.lars
