Would the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 be superfluous?

I've been shooting the mid range for years with the 35+85 combo with a 24-105 zoom as a backup. In my recent switch from Canon I have sold the 24-105 L and for the moment I don't plan to spend so much money on the Sony equivalent but rather was thinking to slot in the 55mm f/1.8 due to all the good reviews around it. That lens is also currently under a double rebate in Australia where I can get it for basically $590 new.

My doubts come by having the 35 f/1.4 where on the A7R3 one can just activate the super35 mode and basically shoot a 53mm f/2, though at 18 Mpx. Would then the 55mm 1.8 be completely superfluous ?
