That kind of scares me. That makes me think you're more interested in the science of photography than making images. If that's the case I don't really know where to go with this, because my opinion is that anybody who wants to be paid for taking photographs should be interested in the making of photographs, which is art.

If you're not gravitating toward reading about how to make images, the artistic aspect and the technical aspect, history of photography, etc... I really don't know how to approach your question.
