Did you take that shot with the porta potty in frame on purpose?
I was sitting under a weeping willow tree in the park and in the distance saw a sailboat go by with the Vancouver skyline in the background. So took a snap and while the porta potty wasn't my first choice, I rather liked the unusual composition. Anyone can take a photo of a sailboat but a sailboat plus a porta potty is something special, don't you think!!
Porta potties are underrated I think. Photos allow us to appreciate them without the odor.
I like that shot of yours with the thermal distortion all over the distance! Great!
They've cloned it out for you but the result isn't real. Life is real. We have this ongoing never ending controversy at my photo club on this very subject.
Reminds me of home?
Thank you, Tom. Ahhh, I feel better already! Porta potties are part of the modern landscape it seems, so might as well include them when the opportunity presents itself.
Yes, there's always that debate between realism versus idealism. I usually prefer to take a photograph the way it appeared to me. But also I try to include unusual or unconventional, even controversial subjects in what I photograph. Pretty sunsets are indeed on my fav list, but why should a porta potty be left out, eh!
Must admit, in the old days when I was into photoshopping, I had a lot of fun "playing" with images. And on occasion I wasn't averse to using cloning or other devices if I felt it enhanced the photo in some artistic way. And I still do to some extent like to play with images as Picasa has some fun filters that I enjoy using to extent my view of reality in a new and perhaps bizarre angle. That is the "artist" in me trying to break out, I guess! I view photography as fun and always attempt to extent the limits in my way of seeing. So hear, hear for Porta potties and cloning!
